I was lucky enough to get on the list to watch a tutorial by M.A.C makeup artist Debbie. The look she demonstrated was Mrs Wormwood from Matilda.
6 of us where taken upstairs to the studios in the M.A.C store, Covent Garden where we could see and touch the actual costumes from the west end musical Matilda.
The demonstration was great, Debbie talked us through the look she created and gave us tips and advice on each product she used. There was a chance to ask questions which was helpful as she recommended a few products for my kit.
It also inspired me with my project as there are many ways you can portray a character. Debbie wanted to create a "glamorous Mrs Wormwood" that wasn't too much like the real thing which is a different approach. I, on the other hand am going to create my character true to the original so it is as realistic as possible. When creating character makeups and looks like this you need to fully understand your character so that you can potray them in the best way possible. Its important to analyse them fully in order for this to happen.
