I am pleased with how my Estella design turned out, I feel I have a good idea behind the makeup and I am happy with how I have portrayed the character. I feel the dress and the accessories make the photographs and everything come together.
The only thing that I feel let me down was the strength of my colours. My idea was for Estella to cover up the cuts and bruises from her husband, so I purposely tried to cover them up, but I think I did it a bit too well! Whilst doing the makeup in the studio, the colours looked strong and dark, even when I powdered over the top! It wasn't until at the end of my assessment when I went to photograph my design that I realised you could hardly see the bruises and marks on her skin. I was allowed to go back over the bruise to make it slightly darker just so I could have a picture to see the difference. This is a lesson learnt, I am always going to test my design in front of the camera and lighting now to make sure I am applying enough colour so that it shows up.
