The Young Victoria - 2009
I have chosen to look at this film as it is based on the early life of Queen Victoria and her marriage to Prince Albert. It represents early Victorian hairstyle as the hair is pulled tightly away from the face, usually into an apollo knot high on top of the head with curls or ringlets at the side. In the trailer below we see that the hair is parted in the middle and smoothed at the sides into a bun or with curls at the side of the face, usually chin length. We also see flowers, jewels and many other accessories added as decoration to the hair. You can tell this based on the Victorian era, not only by the name and clothes but the hair has a big influence on it, they have been created so realistically and well that I almost feel like I am in the era myself.

Effie Gray - 2014
I have chosen to look at this film as it has mid/late Victorian hairstyles in it. In the trailer below we see more looser hairstyles which look softer. Hair is put up lower at the back of the head and a lot more braids are worn in the hair. Hair is worn down a lot more in this film and more curls sit at the back of the head rather than at the sides. Fake hair pieces were more popular and worn often to give hair more height and thickness for braids. I love how more natural these hairstyles look, her hair is seen worn down more often than up. However when it is put up it has lots of plaits all pulled up into an intricate bun and it looks so elegant and beautiful.
